The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Ameya Sahasrabudhe, an individual based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, who makes Read Bro ("we", "us"). By using Read Bro you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
The privacy policy explains what data the app collects and how it is used. It is part of these terms.
Who can use Read Bro
You must be 16 or older to use Read Bro. The catalogue includes classics that deal frankly with adult themes. By using the app you confirm that you meet this age.
Your account
- You can read as a guest without signing in. A guest account is kept on our server and tied to an identifier for our apps on your phone. If you sign out as a guest or delete the app, you may not be able to get back to it, and its streak, saves and progress can be lost. To keep them, create an account with Apple, Google or email.
- If you make an account with Apple, Google or email, keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from the app: You tab, the settings gear, Account, Delete account. Deletion is permanent.
The books
- Every book in Read Bro is a public-domain work. The words are the author's, in the author's order: nothing is summarised or rewritten. We leave out publisher material such as licence text, contents pages, indexes and footnotes. Only the breaks between screens are ours.
- Some descriptive text about each book, such as its genre, mood, difficulty, a one-line hook and a short pitch, is written with the help of AI. It never changes the book itself. It can be wrong, and we correct it when we find a mistake.
- Old books reflect the attitudes and language of their time, some of which readers today will find offensive. We present them as written.
- The public-domain status of a book can differ between countries. You are responsible for reading only what the law where you live allows.
What belongs to us
The texts of the books belong to nobody. Everything else in Read Bro is ours or licensed to us: the app, its code, its design, the covers, the way each book is divided into screens, and the descriptive text. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, for your own reading, while these terms apply.
Your highlights and saves are private to your account. When you share a passage as a share card, you choose who sees it.
Using the app fairly
You agree not to:
- copy, scrape or bulk-download the app's catalogue, screen divisions or descriptive text,
- reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the app, except where the law allows it,
- interfere with our servers, get around rate limits or security, or access other people's accounts,
- use the app for anything unlawful, or to build a competing service from its data.
Price, purchases and ads
- Read Bro is free to use today. It has no purchases, no subscriptions and no ads at present.
- We may add paid features, subscriptions or ads in a future version. If we do, we will update these terms and the privacy policy before they apply.
- Any purchase or subscription will be made through Apple, at the price shown in the app before you pay. Apple's terms cover payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds. We will never charge you without that step.
- Features that are free today may change. If we move a feature you use behind a payment, we will tell you in the app first.
- If the app shows ads in future, they will follow the privacy policy that applies at the time. We will not use your data to track you across other companies' apps or websites unless you give permission in the app first, as Apple requires.
Changes to the app
We keep improving Read Bro, so features and the book list will change. We may add, change or remove books and features, and we may stop offering the app. If we stop, we will give notice in the app or on this site first where we reasonably can.
Ending the agreement
You can stop at any time by deleting your account and the app. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk. The sections on what belongs to us, no warranty, limits on liability, and law and disputes continue to apply after the agreement ends.
No warranty
Read Bro is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that the app will always be available, free of errors, or suitable for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.
Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit or goodwill, arising from your use of Read Bro. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim. We do not exclude liability for anything the law does not allow us to exclude, such as fraud.
Apple
- These terms are between you and Ameya Sahasrabudhe, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Read Bro or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. Support comes from us, at readbro@foxnutstudios.com.
- If the app fails to meet any warranty that applies by law, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any. Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- Apple is not responsible for any claims about the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal requirement, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for investigating and dealing with any claim that the app infringes someone's intellectual property rights.
- You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US government embargo and are not on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
- Your use of the app must also follow the App Store's own terms of use.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, subject to any mandatory right you have to bring a claim where you live. Before going to court, please write to us: most problems are sorted out faster that way.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects you, for example by adding a price, a subscription or ads, we will tell you in the app or by email before it applies. Using Read Bro after a change means you accept the new terms.
